Butt Water

Lizzy, to Morgan while I washed their hair in the bathtub: "I don't even know why we do this, Morgan. Our hair isn't going to get clean. You know we're just using butt water to wash our hair."

I'm still not sure how to respond to that. The girl has a point.

Cute

Lizzy, while putting her hair behind her ears: "Do I look cute like this?"
Me: "Lizzy, I always think you look cute."
Lizzy: "Well, my just feeled really cute like this."

Thinking Pose

Lizzy: "Mom, this is how I sit when I think."
Me: "Wow, looks kind of painful."

Lizzy: "Yeah. That's why my don't think very much."

The Waves

This morning as we were dropping Lexi off at school, Lizzy realized Lexi's friend Emily was behind us.

Lizzy turned around in her seat and started waving like a crazy woman at Emily.

As Lexi jumped out of the van, Lizzy yelled after her: "Make sure you tell Emily the waves meant 'I love you'!"

"You Blend In"

Lizzy, after tripping over Bob three times: "Oh, Bob! I am so sorry! That is the third time! You just blend in!"

Just after her apology, she tripped over him a fourth time.

Best

Lizzy, while snuggling at bedtime, leans over, hugs me and whispers: "If I had to pick one favorite mom, it would be you!"
Me: "Oh that's so sweet. If I had to pick one favorite Lizzy, it would be you."
Lizzy: "Thanks.. wait a minute. I am the only Lizzy!"

"Hit it!"

Lizzy, as we snuggled in to watch a movie: "I'm ready. Now hit it!"

Secret Ingredients

We went to a benefit supper last night where they served two kinds of soup: chicken noodle and borscht.

I took a bowl of borscht for myself, and chicken noodle for the girls, thinking there was no way they'd like borscht.

I forgot Lizzy is a foodie.

She stole my soup, and gobbled it up.

This was our conversation after the soup was all gone:

Me: "How was my soup?"
Lizzy: "It was soooo good. We need to talk to that lady and find out the ingredients!"
Me: "You really liked it, huh?"
Lizzy: "My loved it. We should get the secret ingredients so we can make it hommeade!"

And, because she is Lizzy, she did stop one of the ladies and asked for her recipe!

Grow Up!

Lexi was picking on Lizzy as we walked out of the ball game tonight.

Lizzy, fighting back "Lexi! Grow up!"

Lizzy-cam

Lizzy sang the entire drive from Lexi's school to daycare.

It was so cute, I gave her my phone to record herself.

Not sure which is funnier: the song, Morgan trying to sing along,  or the camera work!

Me, after watching the video: "Lizzy, you did pretty good with the camera. It can be pretty hard to record yourself."
Lizzy: "Um, did you see I was upside down?"
Me: "Yes. You look pretty good upside down.
Lizzy: "Yeah, well I won't ever be upside down for real. That would hurt my head."

Raining Pink!

The sky was beautiful this morning - pink and orange and just beautiful.
This was our conversation as we admired the pretty sky:

Me: "Lizzy! Look at how pretty the sky is this morning."
Lizzy: "Wow! It's raining pink!"

Waffle Cone Wednesday!

Chrissy has taken over the responsibility of Waffle Cone Wednesday (my diet thanks you, Chrissy!)

Tonight, she took Lizzy and Jorja.. and the three of them made up a Waffle Cone Wednesday theme song:

Bedtime Snack Drama

I'm feeling like a very bad mom tonight.

I've been trying to break my kids of the "bedtime snack" habit.

No, I don't think they're fat.

I just think they often eat because they are bored.

They get that from me.

We're all working on that.

Anyway, tonight, I got on Lizzy's case about her snacking:

Me: "Lizzy! That's enough snacking!"
Lizzy: "What, my am so hungry."

Me: "You already had an apple and two pieces of toast, plus supper. You don't need a granola bar too."
Lizzy, after stomping off and pouting for a few minutes: "Mom, do you still love me even if I eat too much?"

My hear = broken.

"It's Working"

Lizzy has been busy handing out Valentines.

She started on Sunday and finally finished today.

And she discovered the joy of giving.

Lizzy, while handing out valentines: "Wow, Mom, this is really working. I give people valentines and they smile at me!"

A Trip to the Doctor

Lizzy had a check-up with the doctor this afternoon (we've been doctoring on her finger that got slammed in a door months ago).

Last time we saw this doctor, she kicked him.

Today, I prayed she would behave better.

Apparently, the doctor did too.

He brought in a nurse and a med student (back-up, just in case she kicked again, I'm guessing).

Lizzy surprised us all and was the best patient ever.

After the successful check-up (no surgery!), the doctor let out a sigh of relief and exclaimed: "I'm just so glad she doesn't hate me!"

Compliments to the Chef

Lizzy, as she took the first bite of her supper tonight: "Wow. This is not pretty bad."
Me: "Um, thanks?"

She had two helpings, so I guess "not pretty bad" means "yum".

Froggy

Lizzy: "Remember when it was so cloudy out the other day?"
Me: "You mean foggy? Or should I say froggy?"

Lizzy: "Um.. there are no frogs out!"

So Nice

Lizzy, on the verge of another breakdown on our bike ride yesterday: "Mom, you and Jake are just being so nice to me. My am never nice to you guys. What can I do to be nice?"

FYI... I do think she's a pretty nice girl. We talked about that, and it's all good :)

Favorite Song

Lizzy, from the back of the van: "Mom, do you want me to sing your favorite song while we're driving?"
Me: "Um, sure. But what's my favorite song?"
Lizzy, singing: "Red solo cup. My fill you up. Let's have a party!"

"Chilling Off"

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but this one can be summed up in just two:

  I'm tired.

I took this while Lizzy and I were outside a wedding dance, "chilling off", as she said.

B and A...and C

Lizzy, as we drove away from daycare: "Mom, we were so super good for Donna today."
Me: "That's great. What did you do that was so super good?"
Lizzy: "Well, two things. First, B: we cleaned up the toy room. And then A, we helped with lunch. But then C you ruined it."
Me: "How did I ruin it?"

Lizzy: "We had just gone outside to play, and then boom... you showed up."
