Random Act of Kindness

Lizzy, as she shoveled a path across Madonna's front yard for no apparent reason: "Hey! This could be a random act of kindness!"

King Luther

Lizzy: "We don't have school on Monday because there was a man named King Luther who thought it wasn't fair that dark skinned people weren't treated nice."
By "King Luther", I think she means Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr :)

A New Friend

Lizzy as she climbed into the van after school: "I got Olivia's house number."
Me: "You got what?"
Lizzy: "Her house number. You know. So I can call her to come over and play. We made a plan. I'm going to call her and she will be waiting for the phone to ring. When it rings she's gonna pick it up and say hi."
Here's what I found in her backpack:

Lizzy called her but got an answering machine. She left a really funny and sweet message. I sure hope it really was Olivia's number and they can get together. I am at a loss. I don't know Olivia or her parents, but if she is Lizzy's BFF like she wrote on the note, I better meet her soon!

Still Beautiful

Lizzy, after getting about five inches cut off her hair: "I just don't know. I still feel beautiful, but I also feel so weird."
I say beautiful :)

Cross Your Fingers

Lizzy: "Mom, do you have one of those board things like Doc McStuffins?"
Me: "You mean a clipboard?"
Lizzy: "Yeah. Do you?"
Me: "Maybe. I'll check."
Me, a few minutes later, after finding a clipboard: "Is this what you wanted?"
Lizzy: "Yes! Thank you! I guess crossing your fingers really does work."

A spy

Me: "Lizzy, I really like your new coat."
Lizzy: "Thanks!"
Me: "I'm just not used to seeing you wear black. You usually wear pink or purple. I like black though. It looks good on you."
Lizzy: "Do I look like a spy?!?!"

Popular

Lizzy: "Mom I was so popular today!"
Me: "Why?"
Lizzy: "Everyone saw me on tv and told me I did great. It felt so good to be popular and famous!"
In case you missed it, here's a link to Lizzy's Elf on the Shelf story

"Oh Toilet Bowl!"

Lizzy: "I learned a new song. Wanna hear it?"
Me: "Of course."
Lizzy, singing: "Oh toilet-bowl, oh toilet-bow.. how lovely are you."
Me: "Um, Lizzy.. I think you mean 'Oh Tannenbaum'.. it's like 'Oh Christmas Tree.' You know that song right?"
Lizzy: "Oh! I thought it was toilet-bowl. Oops!"
